Studio Topography is another piece in Creatures of Habit, and is deeply rooted in accumulation. My studio space included a large wall that had not been touched up or refinished in thirteen years. The result was a wall full of holes made from artists pinning up artwork during that time. Wanting to relate accumulation with history, I filled every hole with a yellow quilting pin. The pins marked each hole creating a surface record, or topography of the wall. Over 3,600 pins were used in the piece!
